2016 Summer Metal Clay Today
Dear Metal Clay Friends,
This issue starts my second full year of editing Metal Clay Today, and I am more excited about it than about any other issue I’ve edited. For starters, we have an insightful article on the critical issue of copyright and copyright infringement from one of my personal art heroes, Harriete Estele Berman. If you aren’t familiar with her work, be sure to visit her website. Besides being a noted artist, Harriete has put in endless hours supporting the art community with her Guidelines for Artists and her blog addressing vital issues for artists such as copyright, fair use and much more. These are subjects that all serious artists should be aware of, and Harriete is bringing us her first article this issue, with more to come!
Ed and Martha Biggar have given us what they consider to be one of their most important articles to date. This article is must reading for anyone who uses a kiln!
We also have more tutorials in this issue than ever before. You’ll learn to apply Rose Gold to your projects, to use pre-made foundations with metal clay embellishments, to create metal clay sliders, and to add pearls to a graceful twisted ring. In addition, our Silhouette expert, Barb Feyka, brings you two projects that bring her article on using fonts to life.
We bring you a profile of this year’s Saul Bell Design winner for metal clay, Rodi Frunze, and our tool expert introduces an alternative to the ubiquitous tool, the straw.
Happy summer and happy reading!
