2016 Fall Metal Clay Today

  • Price: $6.95

Dear Metal Clay Friends,

Even though I’m no longer an elementary school teacher, Fall always makes me think of all the best parts of going back to school: seeing old friends and making new ones; learning something fresh and exciting, and shopping for new supplies. The world of Metal Clay lets me enjoy all those experiences.

I’m looking forward to meeting old and new artist friends at the Metal Clay Artist Symposium in Winston-Salem this month, and at the Art Clay Instructor Intensive next month. I’ll get to take classes and shop for inspiring new supplies, too. I hope to meet some of you at one of these events.

In this issue, we bring you a cornucopia of learning and inspiration. Featured artists and long-time columnists Ed and Martha Biggar reveal how mentoring benefits both teacher and student. Holly Gage shares ways to make like-minded friends, have exciting educational experiences, and develop new creative networks by forming a guild.

Even if you can’t attend a class in person, we have tons of learning opportunities for you. We have four tutorials to inspire you; our Silhouette expert Barb Feyka brings you a batch of trouble-shooting tips; and tool guru Jennifer Gastelum introduces a simple but effective new tool. Photographer Steve Rossman explains how to put gradients in your photos like a pro. Last, but not least, Harriete Estele Berman shares her advice about posting pictures of classwork on social media.

Happy Fall!

Pat Evans
